Sheila L. Johnson, PhD, DMin., is a composer, arranger, recording artist with 8 nationally distributed recordings, specializing in African American sacred music. Her song “Freedom,” entered #9 on the Billboard Hot Single Sales Chart and was selected as a “Top 10 Song” of the year for 2018 in the countries of England, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Sweden, Scotland, Wales. Her peers have selected her musical compositions to be featured at the Hampton University Ministers’ Conference Choir Director’s and Organist Guild (2016), Gospel Music Workshop of America Mass Choir (2019, 2013) and the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Annual Convention (2013). In addition, her compositions and arrangements are sung by high school, university and church choirs throughout the nation. Soon to be released on the “EMG” label is her single “Lift Your Hands and Praise the Lord!” This will be followed by her EP to be released in 2020, entitled “More Than a Conqueror.” Dr. Sheila, as she is affectionately called, is a college professor/administrator, minister of music, wife of Pastor James E. Hunt, mother of Rev. Dr. Julian E. (Rev. Teresa), Minister Justin E. (Deaconess Tracy) Hunt and the grandmother of 4 little Hunts.
